Just wanted to announce that:

1. I updated the forum software to the most recent UseBB version.
Changes are rather minor and invisible, but it should be more stable and secure now.

2. I created this "announcements" forum for sharing such information.
Posting new topics here will be limited to myself (as the website admin) for posting any tech-related issues, and the clan leader (deadeye69) for posting squad-related issues.

3. I hacked around the forum's code... and I've built a YouTube video embedding plugin!
From now on You're now all able to embed YouTube videos with few clicks! Just click the YouTube button on the BBCode bar and paste the video's URL address (the one which your browser use, don't bother with any YouTube embeds or stuff)
For admins or people using UseBB forum software somewhere on their own websites/machines i released this.

Thanks! Hope it's gonna be usefull and fun.

As for the instant message/chat, hm.. I'll see what i can do but can't promise much. I know there is an already existing patch that allows just messaging registered people on the forum but in a classic way, not really an instant-messaging system.

As for the chat i've been developing such application for one of my projects so i'll try to mod it and implement here when i'll have some free time. (Can be a hard task lol)

Other thing is that MOST clans around REQUIRE from their members to have some certain IM system like MSN, ICQ, Yahoo or XFire even before they're able to get recruited. I think that adding such rule to ABS won't be a bad idea and it can really help to sort some things out.

I think we should form a squad law/rules that will have to be understood and accepted by all active and new members. We can make it in few simple points as "dont cheat, have and use msn, etc"

i dont really want to have to use an IM for clan, i think some others might not want to have to either.
so i disagree with that. optional is ok.

i have both MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger, and i can absolutely, positively, with all honesty say i don't use them, i'd make it optional i know it can make the group stronger but to make it compulsory to use it or your kick would result in me having to go as i just exit them both as they start up

today i should have few free hours so i'll take a closer look at those


apart from the idea of writing my own UseBB chat plugin that's already integrated with user profiles, they're login sessions and stuff, but this would take a longer while and maybe i just add this functionality l8r or hack around opensource solutions
